Success Stories
NCEP is proud to share the success stories of some of our previous persons served. These videos were created so these individuals could share their experiences and show their amazing progress towards greater independence in their home and their communities. They serve as a daily reminder of the benefits of intensive, comprehensive therapies and stand as a beacon of hope and support for others in the community.
Susan's Story
Susan came to NCEP after having an aneurysm. She was facing an uncertain path because she was denied appropriate rehabilitation services in Texas and her family was unsure of what the next few days would hold for their mom. Luckily, the family was familiar with NCEP and she was transported to Las Vegas to participate in NCEP's intensive rehabilitation program. Through steady determination and small daily victories, Susan made remarkable progress. What once felt out of reach, slowly became possible again due to her perseverance and the expertise of her clinical team. Today, she is back home in Texas with a new lease on life, is spending quality time with her family and embracing the life she fought so hard to reclaim.
Joel's Story
Joel is a 5 year old boy who came to NCEP after a severe brain injury. On February 9, 2023, he complained of a very bad headache and then had three seizures. He was brought to the locals children's hospital where he was emergently intubated because he was not able to breathe on his own. Brain imaging showed multiple brain bleeds.

He was transferred to a hospital in Utah for a higher level of care where he underwent many brain surgeries to help reduce the pressure on his brain.

He was eventually discharged home and admitted to NCEP outpatient therapy. When he first arrived, he was in a wheelchair and could barely speak. He worked so very hard with the therapy team.

He was discharged from NCEP without a wheelchair and he could walk, run, jump, and do trick shots! He was able to participate in our community outing to Build-A-Bear with our other pediatric clients where he picked a red dinosaur! He continues to do very well back at home with family and in the community.

Joel's story was such an inspiration and he is one of the bravest and sweetest boys we know
Chad's Story
In 2023, Chad fell almost 400 feet down the side of a mountain while participating in a mountaineers group. That day changed his life forever. Chad was admitted to Loma Linda and when he was medically cleared, he started his rehabilitation program at NCEP. Chad's story is an incredible example of how intensive therapy, perseverance, and the indominable human spirit can manifest in amazing things. Chad worked extremely hard while at NCEP to reach his goals of returning to independent living, work, and competitive running.
Antoinette's Story
Antoinette began to experience significant weakness and inability to participate in her day-to-day activities. A few years ago, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and she started her journey towards improving her independence and strength to maximize her ability to live independently.

Antoinette has been able to make drastic improvements in her strength and mobility that has allowed her to be more independent in her home as well as open her up to new community experiences including being able to go on a cruise!
Keon's Story
Keon sustained a spinal cord injury (SCI) in 2022. He came to NCEP Spencer soon after being released from the trauma hospital. After weeks of intensive rehab at Spencer, he was stable enough to go home and then he continued his outpatient therapy at Loux. One of his goals was to hold his baby while standing up. That goal was met before he graduated from NCEP last June 2023. Keon has come a long way. Although he has graduated from the program, he continues to help other clients by helping out in the Peer Support Group every Thursday.
Pheobe's Story
When Pheobe was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, she underwent chemotherapy which caused severe damage to her heart. She came to our program using a walker and requiring help from her family for most of her daily tasks due to persistent weakness and endurance deficits.

Pheobe worked incredibly hard in our Comprehensive Cardiac Rehabilitation Program in between her cancer treatments. She gained back so much strength and independence during her time in the program and was even able to participate in NCEP's 3 mile Heart Walk with the American Heart Association. Pheobe's journey is a testament to the importance of high quality cardiac rehabilitation to regain independence in daily life!
